to all clayart members attending nceca:

you are invited to a reception on march 25th at 6 p.m., worthington
hotel, fort worth, texas. hosted by mel jacobson....cash bar..semi
formal.....(or, get the clay off your shoes, this is a classy place)

you are invited to a reception on march 27th at 6 p.m., worthington
hotel, fort worth, texas. hosted by mel jacobson....cash bar. semi-formal.
(same rules apply)

clayart will also have a hospitality room available each day of the
conference for our private use, to meet friends, chat, exchange
ideas. there will be no cost.

i have been on the phone this morning with the director of conferences
at the worthington and have arranged this for us.
i await confirmation of all dates and times as i send this notice to you.
of course there may be small changes.....but i am sure that it is a go.

as they say in japan, and no where else...`oh yah sumi nahsai`
to give service is my pleasure, no thank you is required.

well the hotel finally figured out that nceca was not going to pay
for our hospitality room.... tried to tell her last week, but she is
so used to conferences paying for everything that she got confused.
SO.......WE PAY.
not a big deal..negotiated the price down to the cost of a room. 103 bucks
for each 24 hours....will put it on my visa.
SO.....we will have an open room, 24 hours a day for three days.
clayart only. (well if you bring a guest or spouse, don't want rif/raf.)
we can have our receptions there each afternoon from 4-6
with mel being the `host `of course. am working on an open bar
each day during that time.....she is sticky on that one, but i am sure
they will go along with it.
SO....i am back to the 5 buck plan.....................i figure the first
65 clayarters can pay 5 bucks each....and then the rest of you
will get in free. or, you can all give me 5 bucks and i will keep the
change. or, you can all give me 10 bucks and i will buy a new car.
or, we can charge each person entering the room 50 cents.
does it sound like a teachers meeting yet?

well anyway, we have a 24 hour a day hospitality room for clayart.
and if you all nick me ,and i have to pay for the damn thing...so be it.

by the way....this hospitality room has a joining suite...does any one
group of you, or night owl types want it.? (the going rate of $103 a
night.) i want to be a mile away
from that room at night. (can you imagine vince going on til four in the
morning about terra sigilattta's sister terry.) (i think terry sigilata was
in the class of `66)

p.s. if someone wants to organize a cup exchange....clayart only...
be my guest....now that we have a headquarters we may be able
to do it.

Mel,Give us a mailing address..I'm going to send you $5 for many
reasons..1) on the order of pouring a libation of wine on the
ground..maybe this will ensure my presence there...2)As a loving gesture
of support to Clayart, one terrific group of opinionated people 3) as a
thank you for all those delicious Japanese tales..they were like a
contemporary echo of Tales of Ahimpsa by Rhodes(in an early Studio
Potter.
I also have visions of the adjoining suite being tightly stacked with
bodies in sleeping bags,4 shelves high.

Here're my suggestions for how to pay for the room, Mel:
*Lurkers: Free. At least we'll get them out of the closet.
*Techno-gurus who constantly answer glaze questions: Pay them 5 bucks.
*Potters paying their own way: 5 bucks
*Teachers and administrators on expense accounts: 10 bucks
*Anyone who ever asked for "a good ^06 glaze" or a "good ^ 10 glaze": 20
bucks
*Anyone who ever asked for "a good used wheel": 25 bucks

If this generates a lot of extra income:
Happy hour at the bar the last day.

I could work up a list for you to have at the door.
Do you think maybe I have a future writing tax policy in Washington?

Hey! If one is NOT going to NCECA but wants to participate in the cup
exchange, is that doable?

Now this is beginning to sound interesting - I prefer the term techno-grunt
by the way.

With the term "techno-grunt"- at one stroke- you gave a new meaning to
"TGIF" and cut yourself out of $5

TGIF = "Techno-Grunts-In Free."
