Dear Clayart Members:

My husband is allowing me to address you about the recent announcement
made by Newt Gingrich who says that by this year's end the NEA will no
longer exist.

I have email addresses for Newt and for Texas senate and house members.
I also have websites for those in other states so that you may find your
own politicians to harass. I find it rather ridiculous that we will
subsidize foreign countries and the sugar industry but will not
subsidize American art. Newt called upon Hollywood to donate a portion
of their salaries in creating a similar organization but one supported
completely by the public. I think this idea is stupid to say the very
least. The US wastes tons of money on its politicians; so why not on
the arts which can at least provide us with some comfort. Here are the
addresses and websites; please send them to everyone you know and would
have an interest in this:

Newt Gingrich: georgia6@hr.house.gov
Tom DeLay: thewhip@hr.house.gov
Sam Johnson: sam.tx03@mail.house.gov
Kay Hutchinson: senator@hutchinson.senate.gov

websites to obtain your politicians email address:

www.house.gov/whoswho.html
www.prop1.org/senate.htm

Newt further claims that the NEA is elitist; well if that is so then
change those aspects which a committee deems elitist. I hope you will
use these addresses to express yourself in same manner you express
yourself in art. I am not an artist, but I have a love for the arts.
