I just finished firing the kiln, using some new Orton pyrometric cones

Has anyone firing at cone 6 oxidation noticed any difference with the
Orton colour coded pyrometric cones?
YES YES YES !!! I recently fired a glaze load at Cone 6, and my satin matt
yellow glaze came out shiny and pinholing like crazy. I had inquired if if
the change in cones was responsible, but the technician didn't think so.
It's the same bucket of glaze for all firings, and I was surprised to see
such different responses when the first two loads fired with the old cone
produced the satin matt surface. I'll probably do more tests before I
decide the difference lies with the cones, but it's nice to know others
have had similar experiences.
