The new show-purchased Shimpo arrived. Great. However, we're
having trouble getting the wheelhead off in order to install the
one-piece splash pan. Supposedly, you "simply" remove one screw,
then remove the head. Not so. Not simple, anyway. Ideas? Anyone
else had this experience? Beautiful wheel otherwise but I want the
splash pan on the wheel, not stored and never used (as at least one
local art department is doing). Thank you.

the screw is a Allen Set screw on my shimpo. a rather large one at that
about 1/4 to 3/8"
its located under the wheel head and as I remember it was pretty tight. I
have a lot of allen wrenches but I had to but a new large one to install my
splash pan. Id recommend you wedge something under the tray part so it will
drain into the pan. Also as a matter of intrest mine is mounted on a wooden
stand and ive installed a piece of PVC pipe to carry the slurry to the
bucket under it.
Good Luck
Erik
