nylon fiber use in clay bodies

When nylon fiber first became available to potters it was a welcome
replacement for chopped fiberglass. The small size of the fiber and
its flexability made it ideal for use in handbuilding and even some
throwing bodies.

One of my students at CIA was making large draped animals and discovered
that the fibers could be dispersed in very hot water. Heat the water
to almost boiling and drop in the fiber in small amounts while
mixing. It goes right into the mix with no problem. Add the waterto your dry mix
