Certainly you have heard references to "old men who throw". Only they are
referred to with reverence and by name: David Leach, Otto Heino, Harding
Black, ....

In strict fairness, I must say I never heard Viveka Heino referred to as"an
old lady who throws", nor yet Lucie Rie. But both were. And if I live long
enough, so shall I be.

Those kinds of pigeonholing are offensive, it's true. But life is full of
greater offenses,
So don't sweat the small stuff. Do what you do. If you started later (this
to the lurker) you brought more to it when you got there. Maillol didn't
start making sculpture until in his 40's somewhere. And if you work,
something will come of it........I know that I said that before. Some
things are worth repeating.
