Thanks Jonathon and Linda and others who have responded about the co2
analyzer. I goofed! What I am interested in is an oxyprobe!
I would appreciate feedback about these and any recommendations about various
ones on the market, best deals, etc. Also, do they come with recommended
readings for a good cone 10 reduction firing or is it hit and miss till you
get a good reading to match your firing? Obviously I have noknowledge of this
particular too!
After a major disaster with a new clay body (almost everything bloated,
badly), I decided that I want more control over my firings and my clay
(that's another story)! I can't complain - after twenty years this is the
first time I have had this particular problem. Unfortunately the timing
sucked! So now I am frantically rethrowing the pots for the empty bowl
project as well as others to fill my small kiln. I need to do a glaze firing
early next next week and I really want to get one of these probes before
then.
Thanks everbody!
Warm regards,
June

Dear June,
I purchased the Axner Oxy probe (expensive ). I used it successfully though
not
using their recommended protocol totally. I had to go with the flow of my
small
kiln. It's easy to use and allows very accurate control. It can't make an
uneven kiln
fire evenly, but it will let you kknow the exact temperature and atmospphere
in the
proximity of the probe. Read all the literature when you get one.
