Hello clayheads,
I need info on the Orton Electric Kiln Programmable Manager...We just got
one at Augusta State University and the cone 06 bisque is too fast for
our needs. Can anyone supply us with a program that has worked for you?
Also, I need a recipe for "red bronze lustre" which is a raku
glaze...Thanks in advance,
Jonathan

Hi I have a raku glaze recipe called "tomat's red" which is basically a
"red bronze lustre" glaze, and the recipe is...
Borax----------------50%
Gerstly borate-------50%
Red Copper oxide-----20%
Red Iron oxide--------5%
Hope you like it I usually reduce it with a bit of shredded paper and a
handful of wood shavings and I get pretty good results from it. Happy
Rakuing!

Hi Jonathan,
I have a raku glaze that is called Glass Red and if heavily reduced is a
lustery, coppery red. Really pretty. I put it on thick but it runs really
easily so you must experiment as to how thick you can apply for a good
coverage without it running. I don't have the problem of it running off the
pot, just on the foot and sticking to whatever is in the can. I also place
it on a softbrick because it runs on my shelves. I don't have the knowledge
of how to keep it from doing this so if you find out I would be grateful if
you would let me know. I would like to use this more often. Good luck

Borax 50
Colemanite 50

I have another raku glaze that you might be interested. I can't get it to
work consistantly but when it does it's great.
^06 - Raku Alkaline Blue - Reduce in can
Frit 3134 60
Soda Ash 30
Whiting 5
EPK 5
