we have put a thick coat of castable on the entire top of our wood kiln at
the farm....about 4 inches thick...it is not pretty, but it sure holds out
the weather. we have built (kurt wild directing) simple sheet metal roofs
over two of our kilns.
on the "best best little kiln in the world" i have placed a piece of sheet
metal over the entire kiln (flat top) and it does the trick....a nice hard
brick in each corner.
