Hi,
I'm newbie of this hands on matter and take a ceramic class at college now.
To me,the last thursday was the first chance to get my pieces glazed.
So far all I got learned was to get them soaked with glazing stuff.
Mine was red clay which was supposed to fire at high tempareture with only high
fire glazing stuff, yet I did put some painting on them before glazing purposely
just because of curiosity.
My instructor did stop my working;he mentioned what I could paint was not high
temp.one but low temp.one, and once bisque was fired,it was impossible to be glaz
because of lack of suck;therefore, I was not able to complete that job.
Though,I saw 2nd-year students did paint on them nicely,so I guess I could do it
one day in the future, but I still don't get what's wrong with painting on high
fire clay.
Does anyone have any ideas to paint on high fire clay?Thank you for your advice

Don't know exactly what you mean by "paint". If you're doing brushwork
with oxides or stains (with a bit of something to flux 'em) I don't see the
problem. If you're using paint....
