Hi Clayart Members,
Does anyone out there have a recipe for a peel-off slip? If is a
slip that separates from the pot during raku, and it leaves interesting
smoke designs on the pot. I believe that there was an article about it in
Ceramic's Monthly about 4-5 years ago, but my copies don't go back that
far. If anyone could help me I would appreciate it. TIA

Hi Toni,
I think any slip would do, We have used the slurry right from the bucket and
had the same results. One of the Fla raku potters had the most beautiful
display at the ACC show in Tampa a couple of years ago, black and white and
shades of gray!Awesome!

Hi Toni

I use 3 parts china clay to 2 parts flint (by volume).
It needs to go on quite thick. When it is dry coat with a THIN
layer of glaze to hold it in place while firing. I reduce in
sawdust for about 20 minutes for good smoke patterns

Hope this helps

Regards

John
