I accidentally found an excellent bat mold in the plastic flower pot saucer
sold almost anywhere garden supplies are sold. They have rings that allow an
air space that when used with slip on the wheelhead will hold down well.I
spray them with wd40 or lubricant for continued easy release before
casting. We have only two plasters available here locally- pottery plaster and
moulding plaster.Since they store them under an uninclosed shelter i must
make my choice based on whichever is fresher i.e. not setup on the sides or
ends due to rain or humidity. When I turn the bats out of the molds(make
certain your moulding surface was level when casting) i use a surform and
soften and clean the edges. It helps to make certain to store them level.I
also found that garden depts. of big chain hardware stores get plastic crate
like containers for perenniel bulbs that they sell or discard. They are tough,
large and stackable-I got mine for 2-2.50.They can give vertical storage in
the studio for many uses.Good luck.
