Thanks again to all who replied to my original query. We finally cast
the new bat with a waterbed heater embedded in the bottom. The heater
greatly speeded up the curing of the bat.
Last week for the first time we used the bat for recycle. After 24
hours (thermostat set at 75 degrees) the edges of the clay had lifter
off the bat and most of the clay was nearly past the stiffness for
bagging.
The heater in not as large as the bat so was centered underneath in the
narrower dimension (width). However, to preclude the thermostrat being
too close to the heater, the heating pad is closer to one end of the
bat. The clay over the thermostat end of the bat was not quite as stiff
as that more directly over the heating pad.
We are happy with the results and are planning to cast another bat for
recycling white clay.
Anyone wanting more details is welcome to E-Mail me directly.
