I am using a slab roler to make very thin slabs of porcelian for drape molds
and finding (after a slow bisque firing to ^02 ) that pieces are comming out
warped and uneven.( Pieces were bone dry at time of firing ) Any advice on
how to roll out very thin slabs of porcelain and have them keep their shape
during the fire? I am using little or no water..........Much thanks Laurie

When I have needed to make very thin slabs, I tend to throw the slabs
rather than use a roling pin or slab roler. To start, I cut a thin piece
of clay w/ a wire. I then stand in one spot in front of a table and
eyeball the spot I'm going to throw the slab onto. When trowing the
slab, I make sure to turn the slab and throw it on the same eyeballed
spot at different angles so the clay is being stretched evenly. I don't
own a slab roller, so I use this technique for any and all slabs I need
to make. I have found that slab rollers tend to stretch the clay in one
dirrection..... and that causes the warpage.
Good luck,
