Baltimore Clayworks is hosting a hands-on workshop in functional
porcelain with Floyd, VA potter Silvie Granatelli, Saturday & Sunday,
September 7 & 8. Her work is carried by a number of galleries, and she has
also exhibited at this year's ACC fair in Baltimore, the Mint Museum in
Charlotte, The Smithsonian, and numerous other juried and invitational
venues. (Her work and that of 11 other outstanding potters from around the
US is being shown at Clayworks Sept. 6-28.)

Silvie has had extensive teaching experience, She taught at Berea
College (KY), where she also directed the ceramics apprenticeship program.
She has presented workshops at Alfred, U. of Georgia (Athens), N.C. State,
Arrowmont, etc., etc. She also taught the Spring'95 concentration at
Penland

For those who are unfamiliar with her work, Silvie produces thrown and
altered pieces that are mostly tableware - lots of teapots, pitchers,
cups and saucers, etc. The pieces are assembled as units, sometimes
unified by presentation on trays.

The workshop will give area potters and experienced clay students the
opportunity to work along with Silvie, trying her methods, using her
slips and other decorating techniques.

Please call Baltimore Clayworks at 410-578-1919 between 10am and 5pm,
Mon-Sat. for a flyer and more info. (Closed 8/31-9/2 for Labor Day. Leave
name etc. on the machine)

Thanks so much. See you in Balto.
