well of course there are potters in Arkansas and Conway is just a stones
throw through the steep and crooked Ozark Mountains. If you are coming
down hwy. 65 you will pass a little town called Clinton that is the home
of (no not the president) Pentacle studios, cool stuff right on the hwy.
Also you will see signs for the Ozark Folk Center and the Arkansas Craft
Guild shop in Mtn.View go there visit the Craft Guild shop you will see
pottery ; pit fired, wood fired, Raku, crystalline glazes, and top
quality stoneware. Sorry no whiskey jugs with tobacco spit glaze wrong
hillbillies wrong mountains. Then if you have gone this far you might
as well take hwy. 5 north to Mtn. Home the go west on hwy. 62 and hit
White River Pottery. Its about 50 miles to Harrison and your back on
hwy. 65 or reverse this path on your way down . The folk center is
small and overpriced but is educational. One favor if you do stop at the
Craft Guild ask them why they don't have more of the pit fired bird
rattles, opposumes, armadillo terrapins and fish, that's my work.
