Leslie in Vestal NY asks about Newton Pottery Supply. They were a major
pottery supply business serving all of the northeast and beyond for many many
years going back to about 1950 (?) They were bought out by Cutter Ceramics in
about 1980 or so. Cutter Ceramics has since bit the dust as well.

I am currently in the market to purchase a wheel. I have only worked on a
brent b and c in college and at the studio I am working in now. I have
nothing to compare with to make my new purchase. Can anyone give me some
advice in choosing a wheel. (I probably will need at least 50lbs. centering.)
Maybe comparisons between Brent, Shimpo, Soldner, Pacifica, etc. Repairs,
durability, noise, etc. Thanks, Derryl. from a muggy 90 degrees in the racing
capital of the world,(but scenicaly challenged) Indianapolis, Indiana.

I have a student who wants to build a potters wheel (can't talk him out
of it). Can anyone recommend a book(s) or journal article showing plans etc.
THANKS.

The Potter's Alternative by Harry Davis has plans for both power and kick
