First, thanks for all of the great ideas for my primitive clay student
project this summer.
I will be working with high school students on math/art
projects. Our basic theme is mathematical symmetry. We have access to a
pond where we can mine clay. We want to create simple forms using only
materials that we get from the pond.
Does anyone have any experience with creating icons. Icons are
nice for us becuse they exist in the world of art and the symmetric world
of math. Crosses and the Star of David are symmetric art forms that come
to mind. I would be interested in other ideas anyone may have.
Thanks in advance.

>==============================================================Ray,

Mandalas. Books of them are available for ideas; they would be in the form
of incised clay, or relief clay tiles, I think, for your purposes.
