>Hi,

>I am trying to locate a particular raku artist and I came upon your page--you
>have some beautiful pieces! Anyway, I purchased a raku bowl from a gallery
>in Long Island, NY about 5 years ago. It was a dark brown bowl that had a
>look of leather. The only glaze on the bowl was on several horses running
>across it. There were seveal pieces (platter, bowls, pitcher) and they all
>were the same--dark brown leather look with glazed horses accenting the
>piece. I think that possibly the artist used a plain matte raku with white
>crackle horses on top. Well, you can guess that the bowl is now broken into
>many pieces and the gallery in New York has closed. The Artist's signature
>on the bottom of the bowl looks like Mer__ that is MER and then a squiggle
>that lookes like possibly a z, a tz or an f to make:
>
>mertz
>merz
>merf

>Originally, I was thinking that Mer__ was the artist's last name, but I guess
>it could be the first name, first initial then last name, etc. Do you have
>any idea who this artist could be or how I can go about trying to locate the
>artist? I appreciate any assistance you may be able to provide.
>
>Thank you.
