I am hoping to construct a very small kiln for Raku and Salt Firing out of
"stuff"...
I have a 15 gallon galvanized trashcan. My plan is to put a burner on the
bottom of it and then use re-bar to make a "grill" above that to set ware
on for firing. I would then wrap the whole sh'bang in a layer or two of
kiln cloth..
I fire at about cone 5. and the ware would be bisqued first.
The two questions I have are: 1) is this a really dumb idea?
2) what fuel would burn hottest (white gas, propane etc.)
I really am trying to do this for under $100 or so...
