raku liner glaze

I'm just catching up on my clayart mail and noticed a query by Frank Helme
about looking for a clear liner glaze to waterproof the inside of raku ware.
I'm afraid we're talking an oxymoron here. No raku glaze fired in the raku
technique will be waterproof. No glaze at all for that matter fired in the
raku technique will be waterproof. The fast cooling causes the glazes to
craze thereby rendering them porous. The clay too is rendered porous. The
result-leaky pots!

If anyone has a waterproof raku glaze please let me know!!!!

With regards to sealing low fired or raku pots, someone mentioned using a
silicon sealer inside. Know anything about it and just how functional does
it make the pot?

Dear Lori: I'm the one who suggested using Axner's lamp liner for making a
raku pot waterproof. I have no idea how functional the container will be
after using the lamp liner. It will make it waterproof, however. No oil
seeps into my lamp bodies and I do raku some of my oil lamps. My suggestion
would be to call Axner and ask for specifics on the lamp liner.
