I'm reconditioning a Randal Kickwheel that I got secondhand. The motor
mount wasn't assembled when I received it and I can't figure out how it
goes back together. Is there anyone out there who has one that can
help?

I have just gotten an old Randal kickwheel with an
electric motor. I have had no experience with this
wheel and I need some help with how to operate it. I
have just plugged it in and haven"t tried to use it
yet. Why does it have the Motor? when and how do I
use it? I couldn"t find an on and off switch on the
motor. When do I press the foot lever down and when do
I move it sideways? If you have a Randal electric
kickwheel, please write me off line. Thanks, Juliet

Juliette;

Plug in your wheel, kick it a few times and then press on the foot
lever. There is a micro switch on the motor that will turn it on when
you press. Don't start the motor without kicking it a few times first
or you will burn up the drive wheel.

Check out the bearings, you should hear no noise from them. You
can get replacements from almost any local bearing store. If you
have a recessed head and need a bat mold, you can use mine
sometime.

I bought my Randal twenty-five years ago because it was the wheel
I couldn't afford when I was in graduate school. It would take more
than it is worth to pry it out of my hands now. You have a
wonderful wheel.

Hi Lowell, Thanks for the response. My wheel is in my
garage so I haven't used it much yet. I perfer the
warm studio at school. I examined the motor and found
that it is a replacement and I can easily add an on
and off switch. I have two large and two small bats so
should be able to learn with them. I will be at the
Alabama Clay Conference and am really looking forward
to it. See you there. Juliet
