I don't use plaster bats much these days, but when I was at LSU many long years
ago we used Randalls with plaster bats. As I recall, we used to pre-wet the
bats a bit to prevent too rapid absorption of water from the bottom of the pot.
If the bottom of the pot dries too fast it will release. On the other hand, if
the bat is saturated with water then the clay will tend to slip off. John
