According to James Chappell's The Potter's Complete Book of Clay and Glazes
Fluorspar is a compound also known as calcium fluoride & is used as a flux
in glazes. "It has a tendency to form bubbles, craters, or pinholes unless
the glaze is fairly fluid or a soaking period is employed to allow these
imperfections to heal over at the melting point." Also if you are using
copper with it "some unusual blue-green colors" are produced.

Hope this helps.
