OK Dannon,
Goodness knows how they do it now (they probably take tips from Nils Lou)
but in the industry they had people called saggar makers who made the
saggars in wood moulds (Coalport pottery, etc.). They had assistants who,
as I understand it, whacked the bottom of the mould to get the saggar out
called, you guessed it, a saggar makers bottom knocker. Many moons ago I
saw in the early days of the BBC a programme called "What's my line", where
a panel had to find out the name of the contestants job. What innocent
days. As you can imagine they couldn't guess this one. The women beat
them hands down. I wish I had been one even for a short while just so that
I could put it on my resume.
