I would be skeptical about any clay body THAT dark at THAT high
a temp: I use ^04 body (recipe not at my fingertips, b ut adapted from
test batch during Alfred's Summer School 1993). It gets darker the higher
I fire it, and at ^01-1 it positively blisters. Maybe it's all that
manganese dioxide--another concern due to its toxicity. Plus cobalt is
so dang expensive (another component of the body) it may not be worth it.
The best bet may be to use (expensive) commercial stains.

Black iron (I'd guess 3-4%, but can't remember the figure) used to make
a nice dark stoneware at the pottery where I apprenticed. That was in
oxidation, but I think it would work in reduction also.
