Hi Vince,
The product you are looking for is called Med-x, not Red-x. It is used to =
make
road signs because it is both water tight and durable. I get mine from a =
fine
hardwoods store. MedX is great stuff. Costs about =2445.00 per sheet out =
here if
I remember correctly. Made my bats about five years ago. No coatings =
needed
and a perfect texture for adhering the clay to for throwing.
Good luck.

course, the wind is blowing.

Okay folks, there is a great batt-lady in Maine on this list who will do
Med-x batts for a very small sum, if the order is big enough, and ship
them to you, any size you wish. Several people at my studio got
together and gave her a big order last year and the batts are terrific...I
don't have the power tools necessary to cut my own, and her prices
were very good, even with the shipping.

Med-x is great stuff--no coating necessary...last forever with care.

If the batt-lady wants to make more batts, she could identify herself.

Sue -
Thanks for the info. I received several posts about Medex (sounds like a
prescription drug), and it sounds like the same thing. So, anyone out there
who is interested in this stuff, apparently it is called Medex nationally.
The stuff I used in Northern California 25 years ago was called Red-X. It
was printed many times on each sheet, but it sounds like exactly the same
stuff. Super for bats, as Sue indicates above.
