I'm sure that these videos were discussed recently and from memory the
consensus was that they were really worthwhile as a teaching aid. My
purchaser here in Australia has been unable to get copies (out of print).

does anyone know of a guaranteed supplier anywhere in the world?

Thanks

Pottery in Australia did a review of them recently and they came from an
Australian Distributor JBF Distributors 142 Flinders St Yokine Perth 6060
Phone 09-345-1434. They advertised in the last edition so I asume that they
are still selling them.

Hope you are well and I will see you on the Cyber doctor Panel in July at
the conference.

I received the set Form and Function for X-mas and it is GREAT! Also
have seen the Making Marks set, it too is good. Along with the videos I
received a pamphlet with many different videos regarding all aspects of
pottery and the prices. The company is Tara Productions, Box 35,

Hope this helps!

Hi All
I was wondering if any one on the list is familiar with Robin Hopper's videos
in the "Making Marks Series"? I am thinking of buying them and would appreciate any
input you all could offer on those or other videos on the subject of surface design.

How in the world did we get by before the internet started?....and what would
happen if it suddenly wasn't there?.....

I have all 6 of them, I think they are very good. Especially if you have limited
exposure to the work and processes of other potters. There are many good ideas, I've
used them with my students.

I ws fortunate to stumble on Hoppin' Robin's videos my first weeks in =
clay. I had a wheel and an electric kiln .... nothing else.... no =
books..... no publications ...... nothing. So I had high hopes when I =
ordered all of both series of videos. I've since recommended them to =
various secondary schools and colleges; they've all ordered and report =
that they are more than pleased with Hopper's work. Simply seeing the =
pots displayed throughout both sets is worth the cost, especially for a =
rank beginner .... but enlightening for those beyond that newbie state, =
also. The quality is professional in every way (by Tara Productions), =
and Robin's knowledge of clay/glazes/forms/firing is beyond extensive. =
(By the way, he gives credit to other potters for works, pots, =
techniques throughout the videos.)

Dear Rose,

I have the "making marks" series. It's a good series. Does not contain unique
information that you couldn't find by reading, but it is all compressed into a
well-made video set. So it just depends on what you need. If you've been in
pottery for a long time and been exposed to different methods, you probably
don't need this series. On the other hand, they would be great for teaching
beginning and perhaps intermediate classes.
