The past five days have been a wonderful whirlwind for Caryn and me. We
had scheduled Robin Hopper from Victoria, BC, to do a 2 day workshop at
McHenry County College in Crystal Lake, Il USA. Well it was this past
weekend and it was great. All 8o attendees, had a blast.

The workshop was excellent. I'm still bubbling. He shares so much
info....we all learned so much. The workshop consisted of Robin making
his unique
forms the first day. The second day he trimmed and constructed the
pieces and then proceeded with various slip and glaze techniques. His
brush work is amazing. He
demoed mocha diffusion and a lot of colored slip approaches. He also
worked with colored clays.

Throughout the two days while he was trimming pots, Robin showed a
couple of his videos, functional pottery forms and one from his Making
Marks series, while he was trimming pots. He also showed slides of his
garden and pretty much gave us an art history class with other slides
and discussion. It was unbelievably wonderful but then again
he was with us for 5 days. We lucked out. He stayed with us and we were
responsible for transportation and entertainment. The workshop could
not have gone smoother and be more enjoyable. We can't wait to explore.

The workshop was sponsored by
The Clay Workers Guild of Illinois
McHenry County College
Great Lakes Clay

and made possible by SchatziBoyz Pottery

Hi Folks

Just returned from a Robin Hopper workshop held at the Dan Finch Pottery
in Bailey, NC. Robin was very informative and fun! He has a quick
sense of humor and an informative style. Lots of throwing a glazing
techniques were explained. Lots to learn for all levels.

If you haven't had a chance to attend a workshop held at the
Finch Farm/Pottery then you haven't lived. It's all there.
