I thought you might want to know about Ron.
Ron Benstead died at Agape Manor surrounded by family and friends after a
courageous battle
with cancer. Ron was born in Calgary in 1938. After graduating from
Crescent Heights High School he studied at the Alberta College of Art. He
followed his friend and mentor, Stan Parrot to Bragg Creek. It was there
that he was introduced to ceramics by Ed Drahanchuk.. Ron then embarked on a
successful thirty ear career as a potter, working from his studio in Bragg
Creek and then Calgary. His work is represented in numerous and public
collections both nationally
and internationally, Ron is survived by his son Dale and his mother Sharee
of Vancouver, and son Ryan and his mother Jerelyn, and grandson Christopher
of Calgary; his uncle Horace (Edna) Benstead; many cousins and countless
friends. He was predeceased by his father Harry in 1978,
and his mother Edna in 1996. We will all miss you deary.Donations gratefully
appreciated in lieu of flowers to Agape Manor Hospice A Memorial Service
will be held on Tuesday September 23 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Barnabas Anglican
Church (1407- 7 Avenue N.W )
