Dear Christine Fennimore,

The saggar side effects you mentioned did not occour in a similar
situation I was in, but I did group the low temp. saggar firings that I
did and then did a very thorough clean up of the kiln followed by a
"clean out" firing to cone 1 or so in a strongly oxidizing atmosphere.

BTW I put the thin (1/4") ceramic fiober under my saggars to catch any
fall through from holes or cracks. This fiber was discarded after every
"clean out" firing.
If you do this there can be little question that your firings are the
culprit when a fellow studio partner has troubles.
