I will be traveling from Colorado to Santa Fe and Taos soon. Do you
have any suggestions for galleries, studios or coops to visit along the
way and in that area? Are any of you Clayarters located in the Santa
Fe area? Thanks, Meg

>Hi Meg,
You're going to one of my favorite places. We go there every year for an
artistic recharge. Here's a partial list of pottery places:
If you like wheel thrown pieces try Paseo Pottery, 1424 Paseo de Peralta,
Santa Fe pottery at 323 S. Guadalupe or Hand Maiden, 102 E. Water Street.
Molded and glazed works are at The Clay Angel, 125 Lincoln and the
Cookworks, 322 S. Guadalupe. To watch molded pottery being made, go to
Allen Walter's studio, Rainbow Gate, in a quonset hut at 530 S. Guadalupe
near the Santa Fe RR Station. Tiles at Counterpoint Tile, 1516 Paseo de
Peralta. Ceramic sculpture is everywhere but Roberta Laidman's dogs at the
Running Ridge at 640 Canyon Road are still my favorites. Also, between noon
and 1:00 you can tour Shidoni, a foundry on Bishop Road. The glass blowing
place next door is also fun.

You might want to visit Santa Fe Clay (don't have their address). They are
having summer workshops with very good instructors who are offering slide
shows each week.

We'll be there in August for a class. Can hardly wait.

Hope you enjoy the area as much as we do.
