for Suzanne Scarbrough and others with similar kilns...
I have a been firing this kiln for a few years to bisque and cone 6
stoneware...it always fires low...the higher the the cone the worse the
error....the cone fire mode reduces the cutoff tempature in the slower
fires to compansate for the extra heat work.. problem is it's too much..
you might try firing in ramp/hold mode to the real cone temp
equivilent...works well if you loads are similar otherwise about a 3/4
cone variation...under and over depending on load...
i fired probably a 100 times before i solved the problem...i now always
watch the cones and override the shutoff if need be...
this kiln is so small i have to heat it during the cooling cycle to
allow the glazes to smooth out... 150 degrees per hr drop to 1000F.
heavy loads help too...added thermal mass..
