seeking ^6 glazes for textured clay

updated fri 28 feb 97

Hello everyone! I am looking for ^6 glazes that are good over textured
clay if anyone has anything they don't mind sharing! I am not
particularly interested in transparent glazes, but more in glazes that
will break over texture, and pool in the grooves! (Sounds very sixties!)
At present, I am mainly using "ordinary" ^6 glazes thinned out with water
to create these effects, such as Zakin's "Mexico Point Green", but I
would be grateful if any of you have any interesting recipes that can be
used as is. Any colour would be ok - I can experiment - or a good base glaze.

Thanks,

This is a chappell clear pg 277, with the addition of colorants, my students
nick named the glaze Carmel Corn because of the coloring and beautiful =
pooling
over a textured surface. It works great over our stoneware, but it becomes
pretty runny on our porcelain. Recently I have had some problems with
blistering, where the glaze has been applied thick, but I am pretty sure =
this is
a firing problem and not the glaze itself.

Carmel Corn
Gerstley Borate 51.0
Silica 31.0
EPK 16.0

Bentonite1.0
CMC 1 tsp.
Manganese Dioxide 10.0
