Rafael,

No one is making me be the NCECA Communicator to Clayart. If it
weren't for the fact that I volunteered, you would be able to continue
flaming forever with no one on the board ever reading your posts.

You asked how it would be educational to see a jurors work along side
the work they jurored. All juroring is subjective, and seeing someones
work gives you clues as to what they value in work. No certain
answers, just clues. A good show show provides more than the viewing
of individual works.

Actually, this show is not organized by NCECA. It is unethical to
accuse people of things they didn't do, in a forum that they will only
find out about via rumor.

So lets boil this down.

You are upset that the Jurors are in the show. If you think this is a
conflict of interest, I will suggest to the jurors that they make sure
to put the word =22Juror=22 on thier labels by their work.

If you would bother to read the advertisement on page 42 of the
June/July/August issue of Ceramics Monthly you will see it says =22open
to all current and former residents of Texas=22 if you think this
flakey, don't enter.

If you think mentioning that my wife got in the show is going to get
my goat, get real. Her work is great, and widely appreciated. I cannot
remember the last time she entered a show and didn't get in. If you
meant to challenge my integrity, why don't you just come out with it
and directly slander me? Perhaps it is because you don't believe it
yourself?

Finally, I tire of defending others when they should have the
opportunity to defend themselves. Might I suggest that you give Peter
Beasecker, Mark Epstein, Daphne Hatcher and Gary Hatcher a phone call
or write them.

Tired of arguments, looking forward to the simple task of typing in
NCECA information and being helpful, I will be happy when this thread
finds the same peace that all other email threads find out there in
Cyberland.

This sounds like a veiled threat. Let me tell you something when it comes
to nceca I'm starting to think of that Groucho Marx quote " Any club that
wants me as member I wouldn't want to be a part of." I'm paraphrasing
of course. ;-) In point of fact, I've only been a member once. That
organization has never done anything for me and has nothing to do with
my everday performance in my classroom or in my studio. If you ask me
I think nceca is little self-important. There are many successful studio
artists and educators who are not members. The only reason I'm
attending next years conference is because it's in the neighboring city to
where I live.

>All juroring is subjective, and seeing someones work gives you clues

Common ground? I agree with this, but how does one know who the
jurors are if they're as much a part of the show as the successful
entrants.

>Actually, this show is not organized by NCECA.

Not one of my posts suggested that the show was organized by NCECA.

>It is unethical to accuse people of things they didn't do

All of my concerns are legitimate.

>in a forum that they will only find out about via rumor.

I'm forwarding the original post from e.d. Bricknell and my response to
the three I know have e-mail and mailing a copy to the one who isn't
on-line.

>If you would bother to read the advertisement on page 42 of the

I quoted the prospectus and the ad in CM. I suggest that it be more
appropriate to refer the exhibition as a REGIONAL exhibition.

>if you think this flakey, don't enter.

I didn't enter.

>If you think mentioning that my wife got in the show is going to get
>my goat, get real.

By the tone of your response I think it has.

>Her work is great, and widely appreciated.

I AGREE WHOLEHEARTEDLY. This debate has never been about the
QUALITY of work, but about ethics with regard to jurying a call for
entries juried from slides exhibition and the curators jurying in their own
work.

>If you meant to challenge my integrity, why don't you just come out with
>it and directly slander me? Perhaps it is because you don't believe it

You had TWO OPPORTUNITIES for disclosure about your wifes
participation and you chose not to. I think that speaks to your integrity.

As I stated earlier I'm forwarding them my post. Might I suggest they
come on line and defend themselves.
