Hello Everyone!
Wanted to let you all know of a great workshop opportunity.
An Evening and a Day with Seth Cardew will be offered by Yost Tile Co. in
cooperation with the Ohio Canal Clay Guild. This is the second in the 1997
workshop series. Seth will demonstrate at the potter's wheel and discuss
what he has coined "the language of shapes". The workshop will be held
Friday March 14 from 7:00-9:00pm and on Saturday March 15 from 9:00 am-
4:00pm. Cost is $40.00. The workshop will be held at Yost Tile which is
in downtown Akron, Ohio. For more information, call, write, or email.
Space for this event is limited. If you know you want to attend, send
check, payable to the Ohio Canal Clay Guild to the address below.
P.S. Bob and I will be in Philadelphia today through Sunday. Feb. 9 for
the ClayStudio Salt and Pepper: Shake and Grind so we won't be able to
return email or calls until Monday. Didn't want anyone to think we were
ignoring them!
Thanks,
Keith

Hello:
I took a workshop with Seth Cardew at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts
(Maine). Just wanted anyone considering the Ohio workshop to know that it
was excellent. He is a humorous speaker with a great deal of insight into
the modern studio pottery and small production pottery. Well worth the
$40.00 (a steal).

I recently attended a Seth Cardew workshop sponsored by Yost Tile Co. (Akron,
OH) and the Ohio Canal Clay Guild. I recommend Seth's workshop for anyone
interested in functional pottery. Seth provided a lot of anecdotal stories
about his father, Michael, Bernard Leach and growing up in that atmosphere.
The sponsors did an excellent job. Everyone was friendly to me (I drove over
from Chicago), the location was appropriate, and the food was great. Watch for
postings of other workshops sponsored by Yost Tile Co. and the Ohio Canal Clay
Guild. They should be well worth a bit of travel to attend.
