I've been damaging my fingers for years
sieving glaze yesterday I saw a friend do
something that made my eyes pop.
Put a handful of marbles in the sieve(about 20)
shake them around and voila!
You can even amuse youself watching the patterns
they make while they push the glaze soooo
easily through the sieve.
If everybody has been doing this for years
while I have suffered shall climb
under my bed and stay there!

>I use rubber ribs...and have used old credit cards in the past. Some
of my glazes (cornwall stone base) can literally take hours to sieve
(well, I do tend to make large batches so I don't have to do it
often). Anything special I need to do to the glaze before "marbling"
it?
Hi Sam,
I use one of those glaze sieves with handles
to rest on the bucket.
I put the powdered ingredients in water overnight,
throw in a good handful of Epsom Salts(it seems
to stop the glaze going too lumpy)
I usually mix 15litres(multiply by 2.2 for pints)
I did a batch this morning.....what a pleasure!
Cornish stone might take a bit longer but I'm
fairly sure it'll work.
Take care
