The motor in my Shimpo Squeaks sometimes when its not engaged and it has a
secondary squeak when it is. Running it at full speed will sometimes help to
stop it temporarly.
I wonder If anyone else has had this problem and what you have done to
eliminate it.
thanks Erik

Erik,
Sounds like the bearing is running dry. See if there'e a lubication
port on the bearing. If not and it's a sealed bearing than the bearing
will have to be replaced.

Eric - mine did this too. . Dust seems to be responsible. I took
the electric motor out and disassembled it and blew all the dust out and
even managed to get the motor back together again- amazingly, the
squeaking went away! Its probably not necessary to take the motor apart as
you could just try blowing a strong blast of air through the holes in the
casing. george

Hi Erik,
I have a Brent CXC that develops a "canary" chirp..chirp..chirp every
several months. I traced the problem to the motor's commutator. I open
one of the access ports on motor housing, remove graphite commutator
brush, apply a very light coat of vaseline to the commutator and
reassemble. This solves problem on the Brent.
Any squeak could be a bearing problem and needs to be fixed asap,
before damage to any shaft occurs. Bearing and lube are cheap, but a
damaged shaft of any kind will be expensive and tedious to replace.
