Laurie,
Nice to have met you in Baltimore! try once-firing tests with varying
amounts of glaze sprayed on the green ware. You will be surprised at the
results. The only way I learned things about lowfired ware was to ignore
almost all the instructions. Instead of scrafftio through glaze, try an
underglaze.

Lauri...
.......Low fire glazes tend to craze quite a bit, so bisk firing at a higher
temp. than the glaze firing helps to alleviate this poblem, (i.e., the pots
have done their shrinking before the glaze does its compression thing).
I have had great success with once-firing and scrafitto at cone 06/04 ,
(holding me breath, fingers always crossed).
Using wax resist on green glazes and pots, I apply the wax the evening
before and allow it to dry over night. Next morning, before the wax is too
hard, I use a scrafitto tool to make line drawings, etc.
VVWwwallah!...mail me if I can help some more 8-}
