When I asked for info some weeks ago about slabrollers many of you were kind
enough to relate your experiences. I bought the Bailey, have had it about
two weeks and love it. However, the Northstar certainly got high marks.
Deciding factor, as pointed out by Jack Phillips of Oregon who works almost
exclusively in slabs, was that the Bailey only needed to be adjusted on one
side, rather than having to align both sides. For me, one less mechanical
step is one less mishap guaranteed.

We are in great need of a cheap slabroller.
No big stipulations on it, save for locale--
prefer to purchase from someone in Georgia
so we may retrieve it ourselves and save $$$.
Or if there is one tiny enough to ship,
we are interested.

I just gave my copy of that article to my neighbor, a computer whiz kind
of guy, to post on the SUCAWS web site. Should be there in the next few
days. I'll let you all know when it's there.

I know this has been kicked around before-but does anyone know where the
article about the homemade slabroller was published? I think it was in a
later issue of Ceramics Monthly. My Fatherinlaw may be "talked" into
building one for me and would like to read a little more than what is on the
Internet.
Thanks,
Lyn

Tony, The only place I have that written down is the piece of paper I
gave to my friend. When it comes back, I'll post it too. Or ask Janet
Kaiser. I believe she's one of the people who put it up.

Before you get all involved with texturizing the rollers
deal with the canvas by washing it with Downy softener.
Just that will likely solve your problem of slipping. I could be wrong,
of course...
