smoking in a smoker

Has anybody tried a smoke firing in one of those electric BBQ smokers?
They are just about the right size for one large pot or several small
ones--and my neighbors would be less likely to complain if they smelled a
smoker (I thought I would toss in a few mesquite chips) rather than a
garbage can or steel drum.

Any advice?
TIA,
Sandy

No reason why it might not work. I know someone who did it in a charcoal
briquette smokere. Go ahead and try it - what can you lose???

I lived in an apartment for 6 months once, and I had a weber outdoor
fireplace on the patio that I used to smoke in. I wrapped it with tin
foil and smoked at night. No one seemed to know, or care.worked just
fine, I am sure yours would.

Begin very, very new to the world of pottery, I wouldn't know how to
begin. Please explain how one might do this. Fire to green and final
fire after glazing would work? Thanks in advance for any information
concerning inexpensive simple ways to fire work.

Hi everyone!
Back from hiatus courtesy of AOL. I smoked a pot in one of those barrel
smokers.
I loaded the bottom with small sticks, leaves, and grass. Then I set the pot
(a wheel thrown white earthenware) on the top grill, and set it ablaze. I
just let it burn itself out
and opened it the next day. I had lovely carmel browns to smoky black all
over, plus
it smelled like a smoked brisket fresh from the pit. Word of warning though,
it does have a tendency to perfume the surroundings also. Going to try red
earth next.
Teresa (yes it is true, I am a pot smoker! LOL)
