I have come across a glaze that calls for Soda frit...It is in Zakins' Guide
to Electric Kiln Ceramics. Does anyone know what he is asking for...exactly?

In the Zakin book, he makes the point that he gives the glaze
recipes with "generic" names for the ingredients so that people will
understand that specific brands are not as important as the chemical
characteristics of the thing and also that fiddling around and
testing are likely to be necessary parts of getting a glaze right.
(I'm saying this from my remembered impression of his point, not
from looking in the book. What he is saying is a lot like what
Julia Child says about food recipes in her excellent tome "How to
Cook".) Anyhow, returning to Zakin, he does give a magic decoder
badge in an appendix, saying exactly which frits and feldspars he
himself used in making the glazes. Sorry I don't have my copy
handy.
