"Hi folks,

'Fraid my brain cramped again and I've forgotten which software is for
which platform. Hyperglaze and Insight are the ones I remember, but one is
for Mac and t'other is for IBM PC, right? Which is which? I have an IBM
PS/1. Are there any other choices for glaze calculation software? (besides
manual calculation - I'm too slow) Where can I get whichever is right for my
PC? TIA.

Kat"

The Baltimore Potters Guild has software very inexpensively ($5.00). I do not
have an address. They may be listed in Ceramics Momthly or with the telephone
directory. I do believe it is written for PC's

I don't know whether you can still obtain it but believe the software you
refer to was available from The Potters' Guild of Annapolis, P.O. Box 152,
Arnold, MD 210l2.

I've been looking at some of the cadd software that is out there. I
haven't used a cadd package since cadd386 was a hot item. I know that
some of you have done kiln plans and such using various programs and I
was wondering if anyone had any favorites. Needless to say, I have a PC
and not a Mac.

Mark,
Most of my drawings are for industrial use, so they are
professional, right ? Well, at least they are passable.
A friend of mine several years ago said to go to Staples and
get a $29 package called Key Cad... it works. OK, so it is
not as good as a $2500 package, but as I say .. it works. I
have designed a lot of kilns and machinery on it .. and they
all work .. so it can't be too bad

Good luck,
Cameron Harman

Hi,

I'm a fulltime potter. A few weeks ago I got my first computer. I'm
starting to
learn a little more everyday. Now I'm thinking about someday getting
software for
accounting. My computer has Windows 98 and Microsoft Office 2000 small
business.
Does anyone out there have a recommendation?
Your Obedient Servant,

Hi Gary,

I know you'll hear a bunch of people say Quicken...I however LOVE M.Y.O.B.
Stands for Mind your own Business...I was a bookkeeper for 20 years before
becoming a full time potter and I extensively researched both programs. If
you'd like more detailed whys and wherefores contact me off list and I'd be
glad to bend you ear...or fingers or whatever the email equivalent is for
all that!

Gary, get yourself the accounting software called Quickbooks ...whatever the
newest version is. I have used Quickbooks for years and wouldn't have anything
else. used it for my studio in Alaska. It is easy to use, has great support,
and great flexibility. Your accountant/CPA will love you for it.

I've been using Bob Wilt's GlazChem for a few years now and I like it very
much!

I use GlazeChem extensively and have nothing but good things to say
about it. I'm also testing John Hesselberth's program and, if he
decides to commercialize it, you should consider it as well.

You ask a hard question, to get best results go to:
http://lsv.ceramics.org/scripts/wa.exe?S2=clayart&L=CLAYART&q=software&s=&f=&a=&b=
This is about "software"
or
http://lsv.ceramics.org/scripts/wa.exe?S2=clayart&L=CLAYART&q=Glaze+Calculation+Software+&s=&f=&a=&b=
"Glaze calculation software"
or perhaps the best way:
http://www.potters.org/category166.htm
go down to software. Than go to:
http://www.milkywayceramics.com/links/dirSub.asp?catid=1&subid=74
you can try the softwares.
If you have more questions you can be more specific. The cone is not the matter.

Hi,
While scanning the subject headings on clayart SOFTWARE caught my
eye.Hmmm, I thought? I have been around clay for about four decades and
that one is new to me...like there is bisqueware, stoneware, earthenware
etc. but software??? Ah ha, then it dawned on me. Duh!
But then many of you never heard "number please" instead of a dial tone
when picking up the phone nor have you been confronted with the smell of
coal oil (kerosene)when entering grandma's house.
"Times they are a changin'.."
