soldner clay mixer...etc.. (re: claymixer or pugmill?)

Randy...
We have a Soldner clay mixer (studio model) and it is a GREAT
tool... I would also highly recommend ordering the optional magnetic
starter switch... (for safety reasons) Great for adding reclaimable clay
(slop, trimmings, etc...) to a new batch that you are making up. We first
rehydrate any reclaimable scraps before mixing... For most of the
claybodies we make, we start off by adding about 25 pounds or so of water
first into the mixer and then slowly add the 100 lbs of dry ingredients to
the mixer while it turns, At some point add your hydrated scaps (first
pour off any excess water from the scrap bucket) to the mix and let the
machine do its job. We also add vinegar to the mix in order to speed up
the ageing process of the clay (tends to make clay more plastic). Once you
start making your own claybodies you will never go back to buying ready
mixed clay...

Best Wishes...Marshall
