Hearing all the wonderful and amusing stories about studio
experiences, I thought I would relay my experience So here
goes.
I have my studio in a light industrial/storage facility in
Rockville,
Maryland. I rent a unheated, garage sized storage unit. No
view
except concrete blocks (painted and unpainted), asphalt and
concrete.
The landlords are very indulgent to their renters, as a result
there
are welders, auto mechanics, stone cutters, three rock and roll
bands
and me. Among others.
I can live with the concrete blocks (painted and unpainted), the
lack
of water and heating/cooling, but the bands drive me nuts. On a
particular Saturday, one band rehearsed the same song for four
hours!
Can you possibly imagine that? The song was good, but any song
played
four straight hours takes on a new perspective. Dementia. By
the
time that they were done, I would have hung myself if they had
played
it one more time. Fortunately for me they decided to leave for
the
day.
One other band must be related to Bevis and Buthead. Gutars,
screams,
drums, etc., etc. I have no clue what planet they are from.
Somewhere way out though. Really way out, different solar
system.
On the positive side, when it is raining I can very clearly hear
the
rainfall on the roof. When it rains, I usually turn off the
radio and
just listen to that while I am working. Something about a heavy
rain
that that is peaceful. Unless you live in a flood plain.
Have a great weekend!
