For Michael Kline and Marshall Talbot and others:
AP Green has a book of their products and includes charts
with the rise per foot variations, thicknesses of arches whether using
9" wedges or #1, #2 arch bricks etc. It also has the radius for each,
spans, etc. I think it is indispensible for anyone designing sprung arch
kilns. It really makes it simple to build the support form and fit your
arch with the correct combinaton of straights and arch bricks.

PS.
I'd go with the double arch, Mike.

For Michael Kline and Marshall Talbot and others:
The Kiln Book by Frederick L. Olsen is another very good book for all sorts
of technical data on kilns. It gives all sorts of specifications from how to
calculate the kind of elements you need to the span of arches, etc etc.
My one is the second edition printed in 1983, perhaps there is a later more
relavent version available. I would also go with the double arch after casting
a new roof about 9" thick in castable refractory cement. The result was underfir
on top and overfiring on the bottom, that is between 50 to 100C difference in a
5.25 cubic foot kiln. All the best Ralph
