I put out a request a couple of months ago requesting contacts of
potters in Peru. I would like to broaden the area to any country in
South America. I am working on a project with a Spanish teacher and we
want
to do a team teaching thing involving pottery. We would like to
exchange email with a potter (or art class) there, her Spanish classes
will translate.
Any help would be appreciated.

Charles --

There are 200 million people in South America, but 170 million of them
don't speak Spanish -- No Brasil, o maior pams no continente, a gente
falam portugues.

I know a lot of potters in the south of Brasil. This fellow:
Marcio Luz Scheibel

is affiliated with the State University in Santa Catarina (UDESC) which
has a really wonderful ceramic arts program. Marcio is completely into
cinema, and I think he can read English, but know he'd understand
Spanish. Anyway, he may be able to get you to the ceramists there. If
not, I'll see them in a few weeks.

Regards,

KPP

P.S. Joe Molinaro, if he hasn't been in touch already, is well aquainted
with many potters in Ecuador.
