Hello again, everybody,
I recently returned from my trip to see my family in Spain and while
I was there, I visited my hometown of Nijar (Almeria), a traditional
potters' village, armed with camera and notebook. I found that there had
been many changes since I left 8 years ago to take up residence in Canada.
Some of you may have read my article about these potters in CM April 1996.
I have now written an illustrated update which may be found at:

Dear Francoise,
Many things have changed in Spain in the past decade in Agost where I
have been doing summer workshops.
Today there are only 6 potteries making hand thrown ware. Oddly they are
producing at full capacity and exporting to Japan and France. Soon, the
factories will be getting natural gas lines and the 3 story wood-fired
kilns
will be forgotten. Ceramics Monthly, May 1989 Three story kilns of
Agost.
Can't stop the march of time.
