speckle blue glazes?

I saw recently a beautiful pot with a deep cobalt blue glaze and white
"snow" over that. It was on an imported pot from China so I know no more
about it... except that it was on an almost black clay body. Anyone know
how I can get this glaze effect? I really like it. Thanks.

Alright! Enough with the balmy weather! God, give me a fan..........

Tom
The only speckling blue glaze that I have come across and used is the
following
raku glaze:

Speckled Blue
Gerstly Borate 70
Nepheline Synite 30

Add:
Cobalt Carbonate 5 plus or minus(depending how many speckles you want)

Mix the glaze base with water then add the DRY Cobalt to the liquid.
You might want to try this method with your favorite glaze.
This is a clear glaze base.
P.S. mix only small amounts, for remixing this glaze will turn it blue
with out the speckles.
Happy Testing

Hi Tom -
The following is a variation of my own on the Richmond (BC) Potters' Club
"Red Tenmoku" - it is splashed with gold flecks on the glossy red-brown
base. When we had a glaze formulation workshop with Pat Taddy of
Vancouver, they tried this recipe with cobalt (about 2% I think) instead of
iron, and it was sugared with silvery white flecks. Very attractive, and
might do for what you're after. It works on any clay body.

V's TENMOKU GOLD (cone 6 ox)

61 Cornwall Stone
8 Whiting
3 Gerstley Borate
10 Red Iron Oxide
5.5 Lithium Carb.
7 Dolomite
5.5 Flint
