Hi all,
Thanks for the spodumene replies. At least I am now reasonably sure that it
IS Spodumene that I received.
I once received what was labeled as strontium, only to find out after a bad
kiln load and some phone calls, that it was actually amorphous silica....I'm
now a little shaky when I open a chemical that looks different.
I will run a test batch before committing the glaze to "real pieces".
Apparently, I can expect some change in the melt, and color. We'll see.
Thanks again.

Hi Candace,
At the Potters Guild in Ann Arbor we (or I, at least) noticed recently also
that the spodumene looks DIFFERENT. Frosty, sparkly, very white.
Anyway ..for what it's worth, I used it (mixed it up, glazed and fired it)
recently in our glaze kiln and noticed nothing unusual in my spodumene
glaze; it turned out just fine.
Since we're both in Michigan, we may be getting it from the same source
(Rovin's?). Good luck with your batch.
